Marketing Assistant - Social Media & Blog Writing

We are seeking a full-time Marketing Assistant to join our dynamic team and represent our brand of luxury lighting. As Marketing Assistant, your focus will be creating and maintaining content for all social media platforms, regularly writing blog articles, assisting with updates of the website and print materials as needed with guidance from the Marketing Manager, and contributing to the development and execution of branding initiatives for Juniper. This position reports to the Marketing Manager. Periodically, the Marketing Assistant will attend industry events with the Marketing Manager and/or the Sales Team. Interior design, architecture, or lighting background is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in further defining the Juniper brand, including the establishment of underlying brand principles, and core customer needs.
  • Drive innovation and new marketing ideas in a small team environment to their completion.
  • Take ownership of Juniper’s social media platforms, posting on a regular basis with relevant content.
  • Grow Juniper’s social & website followership to their maximum capacity with a high-quality audience.
  • Stay updated with the latest social media practices, features, and trends.
  • Create a schedule and write approved blog posts regularly that improve the overall user experience of the website, and engage viewers with SEO-focused topics.
  • Assist Marketing Manager with updating product documentation (product guides, tear sheets, catalogs, etc) as needed through Adobe InDesign.
  • Assist Marketing Manager with updating the website with new products, or changes as needed through WordPress.
  • Represent Juniper’s brand in the design industry by periodically attending events with the Marketing Manager and/or Sales Team.
  • Create and complete a daily and long-term plan and maintain ultimate accountability for the quality, strategy, and integrity of all tasks you are responsible for.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years experience in marketing, graphic design, social media management, or creative writing.
  • A focus or background in home products, luxury consumer products, architecture, or interior design, and marketing principles associated with these areas.
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe InDesign and WordPress.
  • High engagement in the design world, continually up-to-date on news and happenings in the design industry.
  • An outgoing and passionate personality with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to take direction and carry out delegated tasks in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
  • Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Be able to write and speak eloquently in the English language, with the ability to adapt writing voices for the needs of the brand.

Showroom Sales Associate

Juniper is looking for a passionate, experienced and energetic Showroom Sales Associate. As the ideal candidate, you are highly self-motivated, relationship-driven and passionate about design. You employ a positive, solution-based attitude when dealing with customer queries and concerns. You have worked in a sales or customer service role for at least 2 years preferably in an interior design or interiors products company. You are not afraid to perform basic tasks, while you also have the confidence and willingness to make important business decisions.

As a Showroom Sales Associate you will maintain showroom presence and organization to maximize the showroom as a selling tool. You will work with the sales team, the production team, and operations to ensure that customer inquiries and orders are processed in a timely manner. As a Showroom Sales Associate, you will report directly to the company Sales Director.

Juniper is a fast-growing lighting and furniture design company based in South Brooklyn.  We design, develop and manufacture innovative interiors products that are sustainably designed and thoughtfully engineered.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the sales team in developing customer relationships and building brand presence in the showroom market, thereby contributing to the overall sales goals for the showroom and company.
  • Meet, greet and assist walk-in, retail and scheduled trade clientele.
  • Communicate detailed product information to clients, including technical information, pricing, lead times and shipping costs, as well as processing orders and receiving payments.
  • Work closely with the sales team in preparation for showroom client meetings and key client communications.
  • Seek new trade clients through industry research and direct outreach while maintaining current client relationships.
  • Play a key role in the preparation and management of company trade shows and events including those held in and outside of the Juniper showroom.
  • Sustain a constant knowledge of home furnishings and interior design industries and be able to speak clearly and intelligently to current industry trends and products.
  • Assist in providing first class post-purchase client service.
  • Answer all incoming showroom phone calls and sales emails when appropriate.
  • Maintain showroom appointment scheduling and calendar.
  • Update CRM and contact lists when applicable.

Qualifications

  • As the ideal candidate, you come with strong references, display impeccable spoken and written communication skills, and have extraordinary people and organizational skills.
  • You possess 2+ years of experience in a customer facing role working at small-medium size companies. Experience in the design, interiors or closely related business is preferred but not required.

Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

  • We are seeking a full time Mechanical Engineer to join our growing lighting design and manufacturing company. As part of the Product Development team, the Mechanical Engineer is responsible for concept, planning, design and execution of new product and existing product enhancements. You work closely with other member of the product development team, including the electrical engineer, industrial designers, and the operations team in defining and executing the product’s mechanical goals and requirements.
  • Specifically, you will help define the new product brief with the design team, identifying early in the design process, any mechanical limitations and challenges. You conduct extensive research on materials and methods specified in the brief and conduct theoretical proof of concept analysis prior to preparing engineering models. Following the research stage, you begin production of preliminary mechanical models, while working closely with the electrical engineering and industrial design teams. During this process you work with the Operations team and with vendors to get preliminary pricing on critical components key to the mechanical design. You are then required to prepare detailed mechanical drawings for each component, as well as producing complete assembly drawings. You use your in-depth knowledge of metal properties and production processes to properly define the materials and production methods of each component in the new product. You carefully manage model revisions throughout product design iterations.
  • You also play an important role during the product prototyping and testing stage. You assist in the proper procurement of samples and oversee production during the production of any components produced in-house. You also make use of the 3D printing tools available at Juniper to ensure efficient production of prototypes. Managing alpha and beta prototypes and using results to modify engineering models is a critical and time-consuming part of the position. It requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills and developed managerial skills in order to engage the different teams involved in new product development.
  • From time-to-time, you are responsible for managing smaller custom client requests that typically involve mechanical modifications of existing products. This is a meaningful part of the Juniper business model and requires the input of the engineering team. Finally, you work with the Industrial Engineer in the Design for Manufacture stage to ensure products are engineered to meet efficient production metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3 years of experience in mechanical design and manufacturing, preferably in the lighting and consumer product industry.
  • Experience working in cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Expert in Solidworks.
  • Experience designing parts for plastic injection molding, aluminum extrusions, brass castings, investment castings, aluminum die casting (including thermal properties thereof), machining, spinning, metal stamping and laser cutting.
  • Experience with rapid prototype design and build for proof of concept and usability testing.
  • Desire to drive accountability across project teams and functional team members.
  • Experience developing product in the lighting industry preferred.
  • Experience resolving heat transfer issues using theoretical analysis and modeling as it relates to LED lighting systems preferred.
  • Experience using ERP is a plus.
