[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Design Milk, an online magazine dedicated to modern design, featured our updated contemporary lighting solutions released in Winter 2018. We debuted lighting designs that expanded our Axis Collection and THIN Modular Lighting System, with the exception of the Rail, which has formed its own modular outdoor lighting system.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery interval="3" images="10414,10411" img_size="full" onclick="custom_link" custom_links="#E-8_aHR0cCUzQSUyRiUyRnd3dy5qdW5pcGVyLWRlc2lnbi5jb20lMkZwcm9kdWN0cyUyRnJhaWwtb3V0ZG9vci1saWdodGluZy1zeXN0ZW0lMkYlMkNodHRwJTNBJTJGJTJGd3d3Lmp1bmlwZXItZGVzaWduLmNvbSUyRnByb2R1Y3RzJTJGcmFpbC1vdXRkb29yLWxpZ2h0aW5nLXN5c3RlbSUyRg=="][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

The Rail Outdoor Lighting System

Launching a contemporary lighting solution for external settings, the Rail Outdoor Lighting System was thoughtfully designed as a water-resistant light fixture. It features an aluminum body, while embodying a delicate design for luxurious illumination with a low profile. Install the Rail as a discreet patio lighting or as a minimal lighting solution to accentuate signage, storefront displays, and other architectural elements.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height="50px"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_gallery interval="3" images="14549,12447" img_size="full" onclick="custom_link" custom_links="#E-8_aHR0cCUzQSUyRiUyRnd3dy5qdW5pcGVyLWRlc2lnbi5jb20lMkZwcm9kdWN0cyUyRmF4aXMteC12ZXJ0aWNhbC1zdXNwZW5zaW9uJTJDaHR0cCUzQSUyRiUyRnd3dy5qdW5pcGVyLWRlc2lnbi5jb20lMkZwcm9kdWN0cyUyRmF4aXMteC12ZXJ0aWNhbC1zdXNwZW5zaW9u"][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

Axis X Vertical Suspension

Branching from the Axis Collection designed by Miren Lasnier for Juniper, the Axis X Vertical Suspension reintroduces a modern interpretation of protruding elements from the Industrial Revolution. THIN Multiples Vertical Suspension

The Love Me Not Designed by Pascale Girardin for Juniper

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height="45px"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_column_text]

The Designer

The Love Me Not flower pendant was designed by Pascale Girardin for Juniper. She is a renowned ceramic artist in Montreal who is celebrated for her high-end architectural and decorative pieces distributed across the hospitality industry.

The Inspiration

It reminisces childhood memories of picking petals off daisies, forming into a pendant light with dramatic layers of hand-formed petals.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height="45px"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

About the Love Me Not

Effortless and elegant, the Love Me Not is a hand-formed light fixture that casts a warm, radiant glow. It features five layers of petals, created in satinice acrylic for a porcelain-like finish. Each petal is molded by hand in our lighting design studio to form organic shapes, so no two configurations are identical.   This LED flower pendant provides functional lighting in any contemporary space, exceeding its decorative element. Install a single Love Me Not to display a breathtaking installation or cluster the pendant to establish a spectacular array of dimmable, sculpture-like light fixtures.

More Featured Designers

Joining House & Home's January favorites are more modern pieces from other designers. Vista Alegre's elaborate tableware collection, designed by Christian Lacroix, was listed for its scenic hand-painted design. Another luxurious designer piece, a champagne gold stoking set with oak handles wrapped in leather, was a collaboration between CB2 and goop by Gwyneth Paltrow.   Their editorial team also featured the hand-dyed No. 17 Rug in Red by Tantuvi, an artisan color block rug, hand-woven in India. Lastly, the Lane lounge chair by Bright Chair completes the list for its mid-century modern aesthetic, embellished with wedge-shaped arms.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_btn title="Shop the Love Me Not" style="flat" shape="square" color="inverse" align="center" button_block="true" link="url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.juniper-design.com%2Fproducts%2Flove-me-not%2F|||"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_btn title="Read More Press Features" style="flat" shape="square" color="inverse" align="center" button_block="true" link="url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.juniper-design.com%2Fpress%2F|||"][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Proxi Chicago Featured in Darc Magazine's January 2019 Issue

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

The Owners

Owned and operated by hospitality connoisseurs, Chef Andrew Zimmerman and Emmanuel Nony, Proxi offers a hospitality space that captures guests for their Euro-Asian dishes and astonishing interior.

The Designer

The restaurant was designed by Meyer Davis, a coveted interior designer based in New York, specializing in hotels, restaurants, retail stores, and other impressive spaces like the Assemblage Coworking Space in John Street. We worked directly with Meyer Davis to create custom wall sconces and lighting solutions for this modern restaurant design.

The Interior

Proxi is a large open space filled with dining areas and lounges that offer a remarkable culinary experience. Each section has its cohesive aesthetic that stands out in the materials, colors, and shapes used. It is embellished in rich wooden tables and chairs, burnt orange and dark blue leather upholstered booths, and tall windows to emphasize the open layout.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image="10503" img_size="full" alignment="center" onclick="custom_link" link="http://www.juniper-design.com/2018/09/19/proxi-junipers-custom-lighting/"][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image="10521" img_size="full" alignment="center" onclick="custom_link" link="http://www.juniper-design.com/2018/09/19/proxi-junipers-custom-lighting/"][vc_column_text]

Dome Pendants by Juniper in Matte Black

The Custom Light Fixtures

The matte black dome pendants suspend from beams throughout the central dining space and the private lounges wrapped in jewel tones. The light fixtures were manufactured with a white reflective interior to soften illumination and create a comfortable, elegant space for guests.   Another lighting design we customized with Meyer Davis for Proxi was the wall-mounted swivel pendant exhibiting an aluminum dome in each camel-colored booth and window seating. These custom light fixtures are representations of the modern-industrial aesthetic that charms passers-by. With Proxi's esteemed architectural elements, anyone's expectations of a casual restaurant are exceeded and translated into a one-of-a-kind dining experience.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="10519" img_size="full" alignment="center" onclick="custom_link" link="http://www.juniper-design.com/2018/09/19/proxi-junipers-custom-lighting/"][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="10512" img_size="full" alignment="center" onclick="custom_link" link="http://www.juniper-design.com/2018/09/19/proxi-junipers-custom-lighting/"][vc_column_text]

Our Metropolis Wall Sconce, a cylindrical LED wall sconce design, was recently featured in their online news section to discuss its versatile mounting orientation:

The Metropolis Wall Sconce is an addition to Juniper’s larger Metropolis Collection. The cylindrical LED wall sconce can be mounted vertically or horizontally to fit a variety of spaces, including offices, retail spaces and studios. - retrofit magazine editor

About the Metropolis Wall Sconce

The Metropolis Wall Sconce was a collaboration among Juniper, David Meckley, and Huntsman Architectural Group to provide a lighting solution fit for workspaces and other large commercial, hospitality, or residential spaces. This cylindrical LED wall sconce features a 3.5-in. profile, divided by an aluminum core to create two sections of illumination.   Turn an office space into a relaxing environment by independently dimming the Metropolis Wall Sconce's bisectional hemispheres. This dimming capability helps cool your light fixture, which in turn, extends the LED lamping's lifespan. Be in full control of the Metropolis Wall Sconce's energy consumption and illumination for a more comfortable, productive space.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Wall-Mount Orientations

Assembled with a rectangular backplate, the Metropolis Wall Sconce is a luxurious light fixture that nods to Bauhaus and nautical designs. More importantly, this brass plate allows for vertical, horizontal, or diagonal wall-mounting to create an installation that is unique to your space. Add a black hexagonal mesh diffuser to soften illumination or to create depth with its industrial characteristic.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery interval="3" images="12752,7781,7782,8915" img_size="full" onclick="custom_link" custom_links="#E-8_aHR0cCUzQSUyRiUyRnd3dy5qdW5pcGVyLWRlc2lnbi5jb20lMkZwcm9kdWN0cyUyRnRoZS1tZXRyb3BvbGlzLXdhbGwtc2NvbmNlJTJGJTJDaHR0cCUzQSUyRiUyRnd3dy5qdW5pcGVyLWRlc2lnbi5jb20lMkZwcm9kdWN0cyUyRnRoZS1tZXRyb3BvbGlzLXdhbGwtc2NvbmNlJTJGJTJDaHR0cCUzQSUyRiUyRnd3dy5qdW5pcGVyLWRlc2lnbi5jb20lMkZwcm9kdWN0cyUyRnRoZS1tZXRyb3BvbGlzLXdhbGwtc2NvbmNlJTJGJTJDaHR0cCUzQSUyRiUyRnd3dy5qdW5pcGVyLWRlc2lnbi5jb20lMkZwcm9kdWN0cyUyRnRoZS1tZXRyb3BvbGlzLXdhbGwtc2NvbmNlJTJG"][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_btn title="Shop the Metropolis Wall Sconce" style="flat" shape="square" color="inverse" align="center" button_block="true" link="url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.juniper-design.com%2Fproducts%2Fthe-metropolis-wall-sconce%2F|||"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_btn title="View All Projects" style="flat" shape="square" color="inverse" align="center" button_block="true" link="url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.juniper-design.com%2Fprojects%2F|||"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_btn title="Read More Articles" style="flat" shape="square" color="inverse" align="center" button_block="true" link="url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.juniper-design.com%2Fmodern-lighting-blog%2F|||"][/vc_column][/vc_row]

One of their goals is to bring modern innovations introduced by designers to their audience. Design Mate's team featured our M Lamp, dubbing the cordless fixture as a portable lighting solution that will get one through the 21st century's rapid lifestyle.

The M Lamp's Design

Designed by David Irwin for Juniper, the M Lamp was influenced by miners' headlamps from the 19th century. Although this design transpired from the past, the portable lamp exhibits modern aesthetics. It is a multi-purpose light fixture with an aluminum body, held by a minimal lantern handle.   The M Lamp features a rotatable 360° lamp head to direct light output. With an on-dim-off push button atop its body, users are able to control lighting with a single click. It is powered by a rechargeable lithium iron battery that lasts up to 70 hours for on-the-go use.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

More Modern Portable Lighting Solutions

As a lighting manufacturer that focuses on meaningful lighting designs, Juniper offers contemporary portable light fixtures such as the M Lamp and the THIN Task Lamp. Surface Magazine Interviews Juniper Founder Shant Madjarian

Juniper Founder Shant Madjarian Discussing the M Lamp at Yale CEID

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_column_text]

If you want to start off by telling me a little about life before Juniper…

I was born and raised in Montreal and attended McGill University for my graduates degree in Economics. I grew up in a very entrepreneurial family. My father and mother started a business in the lighting industry that they still to run today. It was very traditional lighting, mostly contract hospitality projects, and it operated very much like a family business. At the time, I wasn’t interested in their business. I pursued my own interests. After I received my degree, I dove into the finance world in New York to pursue investment banking. Fifteen years later, I was working with large corporations, helping them understand their business, corporate profitability, and so on. In some ways, it has nothing to do with what I’m doing now, but in others, I came full circle.

How did Juniper come about?

I found my passion for design. I wanted to create a multiline, multicategory business that worked closely with designers. I was naive at first, to be honest. We had a rough start, like many businesses, but after about two years, large commercial lighting projects started coming in and we started to build a foundation for what I had envisioned for the long term. We pushed through many obstacles until the business gained momentum. A couple of trade shows later, the market started to pick up on what we were doing, and vice versa. Business started taking off and we continued doing what we were doing right, and stopped doing what wasn’t working. Since that turning point, Juniper has tripled in employees, and continues to push forward in creativity and development.
[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

We talked a little bit about Juniper’s origins, but take me through the time in which we left off until today. What has that journey been like?

When we launched the business, I met a few people that were pivotal in Juniper’s growth. David Irwin was one. At the time, he was a newly graduated designer from Northumbria University in New Castle. We hit it off immediately and ended up talking about a lamp he had designed for a school project. It was a really cool miner’s lamp with a modern twist. He had re-envisioned the lamp as a battery-powered mobile task lamp, and I was fascinated by the idea. I ended up developing it with him and released the M Lamp as one of our first designs.

M Lamp in Glossy White

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

In the same year, I met Peter Bristol, who is now the head industrial designer at Facebook. He’s a very curious, down-to-earth guy. I stumbled upon his work online and started talking to him about his designs. We started talking about what he had in the pipeline, one of them being a task lamp. It had a slender profile and was really intriguing to me. We worked together to develop it, and the THIN Task Lamp was released two years later.

THIN Task Lamp with Desk Inset in Satin Brass

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

I went full force into both of these products because they appealed to me and I hadn’t seen them anywhere on the market. Once I started developing them, I understood that while they were simple concepts they required complex internal mechanisms. We trouble-shot both designs until we got them right.

The Design

The Rail's minimal design was inspired by our THIN Modular Lighting System. Like the THIN, the Rail features a 1/2-inch diameter segment, but with a square profile. This luxury outdoor lighting can be magnetically connected to allow for extensive lengths and independently rotated 320° for lighting adjustability. The Rail offers an aluminum body complemented by a silicone-encased LED to equip a water-resistant system.

Juniper worked internally to release a design that preserves our ethos. Shant Madjarian, Juniper Founder & Owner, expounds the Rail's modular form:
"The Rail Collection marries durability with urban elegance, delivering an outdoor LED light that acts as a spotlight to the natural environment—a simplistic and sculptural solution."

The Rail in Black

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Furthermore, Miren Lasnier, designer of our Axis Collection, contributed to the Rail's modern linear design. As a lighting designer, one of Miren's focus is engineering aesthetically structured fixtures that do not spare their functions:
"When designing Rail, we wanted to develop a light that could sustain weathering, but did not want to sacrifice the aesthetic freedom we have with indoor solutions. We took much consideration into Rail’s materiality and function, ensuring the strength of its structure, while also maintaining the sophisticated minimalism and modularity the Juniper brand is celebrated for."

Surface Magazine’s Holiday Gift Guide Lists Ground Control Dimmers

Juniper is a member of The List, with other prestigious designers that Surface approves of. In their Holiday 2018 Gift Guide, their editors covered futuristic products for the tech-obsessed and recommended our Ground Control Dimmers:

Who says hardware can’t make a sexy gift? These dimmers from Juniper, in particular, can help set a mood. Now that’s a gift that keeps giving.

The Inspiration

Embodying vintage aesthetics, the Ground Control Dimmer is derived from a series of brass power accessories. It was inspired by NASA's mission control desks consisting of switches, knobs, and buttons. Our Ground Control Collection further expands into a toggle switch, power outlet, and double USB port.

About the Ground Control Dimmers

The Ground Control Dimmer extends in two styles—a knob wrapped in knurled texture and a dial with a broad circular plate atop a slender neck. Both these designs hold a satisfying weight as you rotate to dim or power up your fixture. They also bear a click-stop feature to guarantee a fully turned off light.   Encased in a solid brass grommet, the Ground Control Dimmers can be installed to desks, panels, and other furniture. Available in Satin Brass, Satin Nickel, and Black Oxide, the Ground Control Dimmer can be paired with select Juniper products in the same metal finish. Install it alongside other surface-mounted Ground Control power accessories for a luxurious modern workstation.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="7737" img_size="full" alignment="center" onclick="custom_link" link="http://www.juniper-design.com/products/ground-control-dimmers/"][vc_column_text]

Interior Design Highlights Juniper’s West Coast Sales Representative

Dec

[vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="14920" img_size="full" alignment="center" onclick="custom_link" img_link_target="_blank" link="https://www.interiordesign.net/articles/15651-on-the-move-chong-cuy-named-executive-director-of-storefront-for-art-and-architecture/"][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_column_text]As Juniper continues to grow as a team, we are thrilled to welcome all the new faces who joined us this 2018. One of them being our West Coast Sales Representative, Danielle Greenstein, who was featured in Interior Design's list of design industry professionals. Other professionals mentioned are from KnollHGA/Wilson Architects, and Museum of Arts and Design.

Before Joining Juniper

Earning her BFA in Interior Design from Pratt Institute, Danielle has successfully completed projects in line with the school's national accreditation. She honed her skills as Junior Interior Designer and Project Manager in high-end residential firms in New York, which prepared her to work independently on projects. As a result, Danielle founded Midtown Studios LLC where she fulfilled her dream as Principal Designer.   We asked Danielle why she joined our growing team as our West Coast Sales Representative after founding Midtown Studios LLC:
"After running Midtown Studios solo for 7 years, it was time for a new adventure out west. I found a wonderful opportunity to live in a place where I always dreamt of living and a chance to try another side of the design industry. Juniper's commitment to innovating and reinforcing modern aesthetics really inspired me. Our light fixtures are proudly installed in large-scale projects worldwide, and that in itself, is amazing to be part of the Juniper team!"
[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Juniper in the Western Region

Now joining Juniper as our West Coast Sales Representative, one of Danielle's biggest responsibilities is bringing her 12 years of experience into California's Architecture & Design Community, primarily in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, and Orange County. To schedule a meeting with Danielle, or for further assistance, reach out during standard California business hours (9AM - 5PM PT).[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_btn title="Meet the Team" style="flat" shape="square" color="inverse" align="center" button_block="true" link="url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.juniper-design.com%2Fmeet-the-team%2F|||"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_btn title="Read More Press Features" style="flat" shape="square" color="inverse" align="center" button_block="true" link="url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.juniper-design.com%2Fpress%2F|||"][/vc_column][/vc_row]
