Responsible for concept, planning, design & execution of new & existing product. Will work w/ electrical engr industrial designers & ops team in defining & executing the product’s mechanical goals & req. Will define new product brief w/desgn team to identify design process mechanical limitations & challenges. Conduct extensive research on materials &methods specified brief. Conduct theoretical proof of concept analysis prior to preparing engineering models. Production of preliminary mechanical models, while working closely w/electrical engr & industrial design teams. Work with Ops team & vendors to get preliminary pricing on critical components key to the mechanical design. Prep mechanical drawings for each component & complete assembly drawings. Use in-depth knowledge of metal properties & production processes to properly define materials & production methods of each component new product. Use Solidworks PDM to manage product BOMs & for model revisions throughout product design iterations. Responsible for product prototyping & testing stage. Assist proper procurement of samples & oversee production during production of any components produced in house. Use 3D printing tools available at Juniper to ensure efficient production of prototypes. Manage alpha & beta prototypes using results to modify engineering models. Req attention to detail, strong org skills & developed managerial skills to engage diff teams involved in new product dvlpmt. Responsible for managing smaller custom client requests involving mechanical modifications of existing products. This is a meaningful part of the Juniper business model & reqs input of engnrg team. Will work w/ Industrial Engr in Design for Manufacture stage to ensure products are engineered to meet efficient production metrics.
BS in Mech Engr or equiv + 3 yrs exp in mech design & mnfctrng in product industry, designing parts for plastic injection molding, aluminum extrusions, investment castings, aluminum die casting (including thermal properties thereof), machining, spinning, metal stamping & laser cutting, rapid prototype design & build for proof of concept & usability testing & w/electromechanical design.
