They provide backup & recovery services, as well as application performance and big data storage options. FreeIt Data Solutions began in 2010 as a data storage vendor focused on providing solutions to the State of Texas public sector. Since the beginning, data storage and virtualization has been and remained a primary focus. With this in the forefront, they have identified and adapted to dramatic changes in the industry. As the ever-changing industry evolves toward simplified platforms, Freeit remains focused of providing cutting-edge technology solutions to their customers.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="9033" img_size="full" el_class="stretched_images"][vc_single_image image="9043" img_size="full" el_class="stretched_images"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="9047" img_size="full" el_class="stretched_images"][vc_single_image image="9040" img_size="full" el_class="stretched_images"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A restrained material palette of wood, industrial felt and concrete are combined with hints of color to reference Freeit’s brand identity. Upon entering, visitors are greeted with a floor to ceiling living wall in the reception area. Overhead, a dynamic pattern of wood slats unifies the open workspace. This suspended ceiling performs multiple functions - it screens the plumbing and mechanical equipment while also providing a framework to integrate lighting. On the north end of the space the ceiling turns down to screen the kitchen area and on the south end, it extends to the exterior of the building to provide an armature for signage.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image="9041" img_size="full" alignment="center" el_class="stretched_images"][vc_column_text]Photography by Cyndney Holm[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Recently, FreeIt Data Solutions has undergone renovations and has updated their headquarters, coincidentally with a lighting company who understands the focus and detail of modern-day technology- Juniper! In their updated office, Chioco Design created a modern workspace reflective of the company's branding. With bright pops of FreeIt's signature green, the space is complemented by natural wood tones and smooth concrete flooring to bring in organic and calming elements. The 10-seat conference table, adorned by branded green chairs, sits beneath a single THIN Primaries Square in Black Oxide. The geometric lighting becomes a perfect complement to the sharp angles in the rectangular conference table below and dark tones echoed throughout the flooring and textured accent wall. With bursts of modern green accents and sophisticated textures, the space is easily cohesive and refined to create a contemporary workspace reflective of the brand itself.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_btn title="Shop the THIN Primaries Square" style="flat" shape="square" color="inverse" align="center" button_block="true" link="url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.juniper-design.com%2Fproducts%2Fthin-primaries-square%2F|||"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_btn title="Browse All Lighting" style="flat" shape="square" color="inverse" align="center" button_block="true" link="url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.juniper-design.com%2Fproducts%2F|||"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_btn title="Read More Articles" style="flat" shape="square" color="inverse" align="center" button_block="true" link="url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.juniper-design.com%2Fjournal%2F|||"][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Inside the Mind of THIN Collection Designer, Peter Bristol

Jun

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Discover the inspiration, design process, and future plans of the THIN Collection, designed by Peter Bristol in a one-on-one interview.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

What are the most important things you keep in mind when designing for Juniper?

For Juniper, it seems we are always looking for something that is both new and innovative, yet at the same time, familiar. This is a fine line to walk. While there is no reason to make something that has already been made, creating something "new" for the sake of "new" is also not a reasonable justification. You can feel this type of logic not only in my work with Juniper but all of the products they produce. This will sound like a planted line, but I swear it is not... One more notable thing about working with Juniper is their own internal quality bar. Shant and the team believe in making amazing products and it shows as they work through detail on the THIN projects.

Tell us about the THIN Collection—what are its qualities and what inspired you to create it?

The THIN Collection as it exists now was not an inspired vision. Very much the contrary. It is a living, breathing footprint of products. The first, and possibly most recognizable silhouette in the collection is the THIN Task Lamp. The idea behind it was fairly simple, LED's allow us to completely break free from the constraints of the more traditional incandescent lamps. Embracing the opportunity, we worked to achieve a very small diameter tubing while still providing great light. The reduction in volume allows us to increase the reach of the lamp without being too imposing. The design can actually extend comfortably over a work surface. From a materials standpoint, most of the LED lighting at the time felt "techy" and "producty" somehow making this very elegant light source feel inappropriate. The brass tubing, bearing-style hinge and cast iron base work together to create a lamp that feels both new and familiar at the same time. Perhaps an instant classic.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image="6675" img_size="full" alignment="center"][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

Could you take us through the design process, from when you first had the idea to the creation of the final product? What makes the THIN Collection unique?

Like many product lines, the THIN Collection has been continuously evolving since its inception. It seems each step forward with the line sheds light on what to do next. The first in the family was the THIN Task Lamp as discussed above. Since then, we have very naturally added to the line. First, we added more color options and the second addition was making a smaller more attainable version of the Task Lamp. Soon, the Floor Lamp and THIN Suspension series were born and it began to shed light on its own future... The THIN Collection has taken on a life of its own. The THIN system's uniqueness lies in the flexibility that it provides. It is now a vast toolkit that provides almost infinite creativity, like LEGOs for designers and architects. It can be used in subtle ways like lighting art or providing under-cabinet lighting that is worthy of amazing interiors. The system can also be used in incredibly expressive ways, some of the wall lighting arrangements (which by the way, seems hard to find/understand on the site) and the THIN Primaries start to hint at just how far you can take it. One thing I think is difficult to convey is just how great of a toolkit we have developed. As designers start to see it, I think we will see a whole new wave of creativity. It enables a level of reasonably priced high-quality customizable modern lighting that simply doesn't otherwise exist.

What’s next for Juniper and the THIN Collection?

The future is hard to predict, but we will likely continue to evolve and add to the THIN organically. Right now there are more additions and tweaks to make than we can get out the door and I don't see that slowing down in the near future. I am also hoping that as architects and designers start to really work with and understand the system they will let us know what they need/want out of it.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_btn title="Browse All Lighting" style="flat" shape="square" color="inverse" align="center" button_block="true" link="url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.juniper-design.com%2Fproducts%2F|||"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_btn title="Learn More About Peter Bristol" style="flat" shape="square" color="inverse" align="center" button_block="true" link="url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.juniper-design.com%2Fdesigner-peter-bristol%2F|||"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_btn title="Read More Articles" style="flat" shape="square" color="inverse" align="center" button_block="true" link="url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.juniper-design.com%2Fjournal%2F|||"][/vc_column][/vc_row]

They bring forward latest news and helpful information, such as the launch of our Metropolis Wall Sconce.   The Metropolis Wall Sconce, designed by David Meckley of Huntsman Architectural Group, emerges from a growing collection of 3.5-inch cylindrical suspended and custom wall-to-wall fixtures. This wall light is distinguished by its rectangular backplate that allows users to install the configuration vertically or horizontally.   An aluminum core divides the Metropolis Wall Sconce into two hemispheres, allowing users to individually dim its light output. We also offer an optional perforated matte black mesh diffuser to add more structure to the fixture while modifying any harsh illumination. With its strong illumination of up to 6,800LM, this wall sconce can adorn productive spaces such as a coworking space, kitchen, library, or an office.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_btn title="Shop the Metropolis Wall Sconce" style="flat" shape="square" color="inverse" align="center" button_block="true" link="url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.juniper-design.com%2Fproducts%2Fthe-metropolis-wall-sconce%2F|||"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_btn title="Read More Press Features" style="flat" shape="square" color="inverse" align="center" button_block="true" link="url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.juniper-design.com%2Fpress%2F|||"][/vc_column][/vc_row]

The interconnecting dimmable LED segments can rotate to reposition light and enable users to connect segments for longer lengths. Design by Peter Bristol, the desk-inset luminaire is dynamic with its seamless pairing of the Ground Control collection. Inspired by the dials and switches of mid-century mission control rooms, the Ground Control collection integrates furniture-mounted lighting with a thoughtfully-designed power accessory. With a solid brass casing, the Ground Control collection offers options like an on-off Toggle Switch and two styles of Dimmers. "We always say lighting is our most important material—if a space isn't lit well, it doesn't matter what it is made of. Juniper makes great lighting, such as the Metropolis Wall-to-Wall product."
Using high-output LED lamping, the Metropolis Wall-to-Wall is an impressive lighting solution designed by Huntsman Architectural Group’s Lead Designer, David Meckley, for Juniper. This system was primarily devised to illuminate Argonaut’s large music-venue-turned-office in San Francisco. It features cylindrical light modules that balance on a central matte black beam. This orientation mounts to parallel walls, but our team also innovated a ceiling-mounted option for spaces that do not have parallel walls. Because the Metropolis Wall-to-Wall attracted success, Juniper broadened it into a collection of suspended and wall-mounted fixtures, resulting into the Metropolis Suspension and the Metropolis Wall Sconce.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_single_image image="6080" img_size="full" alignment="center" onclick="custom_link" link="http://www.juniper-design.com/products/the-metropolis-wall-to-wall/"][vc_column_text]
